About Arquitetura do Impossível

1. What it is

Arquitetura do Impossível (Impossible Architecture) is an independent editorial project, made in Brazil, about great structures: how a work that seemed impossible came to stand. Each page of this site accompanies an episode of the YouTube channel, @ArquiteturadoImpossível, in Portuguese, and is published before the premiere, while the episode is still to come. It goes beyond the video: it has the full fact sheet, the sources, the credited images and the disagreements that do not fit in a video.

The question is always the same: what made this structure impossible, and who solved it — with what math, what material, what improvisation. The protagonist is the engineering problem; people come in as those who faced it. Structures from Brazil and the rest of the world, one a week.

3. Images

Only real photographs, plans and documents are used, from collections in the public domain or under a Creative Commons license that allows commercial use, with author and license credited on every page. AI-generated images are not used on this site.

4. Corrections

Got a date, a name or a number wrong? Write through the contact page, preferably with the source. A confirmed error is corrected here, and the correction also applies to whatever comes next on the channel.

5. Who makes it

Arquitetura do Impossível is written, researched and maintained independently, with no ties to any university, company or government body. It comes from the same creator as two other projects with the same care for sources: Vestígio Oculto, on archaeology and mystery, and Xadrez Bélico, on battles explained as a chess game (both in Portuguese).
